October 29th, 2008

If you are having audio/sound issues, please take the following steps before submitting a help request or bug report.

Quite often, sound/audio issues can be corrected by adjusting settings on your computer. Have you checked to make sure that you’re configured properly?

  1. Click “Start”

  2. Go to Control Panel
  3. Select Sound
  4. Under the Playback tab:
    • Make sure the proper speakers are selected with a green check mark

    • Click “Properties”
    • Under the Levels tab:
      1. Check that your Audio output is not too high or too low
  5. Under the Recording tab:
    • Make sure the proper microphone is selected with a green check mark

    • Click “Properties”
    • Under the Levels tab:
      1. Check that your Microphone output is not too high or too low

If these steps do not help you, please provide specific details as to what issues you are having with sound, including going to http://www.testyourvoip.com/ and providing the results of that test, in a detailed technical help request.
